Taking Shahada or returning to Islam is a profound, life-changing decision. It’s also the beginning of a journey that can sometimes feel overwhelming.
Where do you start? How do you navigate new practices while maintaining relationships with family and friends? What happens when you have questions that feel too basic to ask?
These feelings are completely normal, and you don’t have to figure everything out by yourself.
The MAS Minnesota Reverts Reconnect program grew from a simple recognition: new Muslims and those reconnecting with their faith need genuine support, not just information. We’ve learned from years of community experience that what matters most isn’t perfect knowledge of Islam – it’s having people who understand your journey and are willing to walk alongside you.
Our program is built around real conversations with community members who’ve shared their challenges, questions, and hopes with us. Everything we do comes from listening to what actually helps people thrive in their new or renewed faith.
We gather once a month for food, conversation, and connection. These aren’t formal classes – they’re chances to meet others on similar journeys, share experiences, and build friendships. The topics we discuss come from what the group wants to explore, whether that’s practical Islam questions, family dynamics, or spiritual growth.
When our community asks for a deeper understanding of specific topics, we organize focused discussions:
Essential Islamic practices and their meanings
Navigating relationships with non-Muslim family and friends
Finding your Islamic identity in professional settings
Building healthy Islamic relationships and marriage perspectives
Sharing Islam with others naturally and confidently
Working through spiritual questions and struggles
Islamic holidays like Eid can feel lonely when you’re new to the faith. We make sure no one celebrates alone through community Eid gatherings, Ramadan iftars, and other Islamic occasions. These celebrations help you experience the joy and traditions that have been part of Muslim communities for centuries.
Beyond formal programs, we enjoy simple time together – picnics, sports, game nights, community service projects, and other activities that let friendships develop naturally while staying connected to Islamic values.
Sometimes you need someone to talk with privately about your specific situation. Our experienced community members are available for one-on-one conversations, whether you’re dealing with family challenges, workplace questions, or personal spiritual concerns.
If you’re considering embracing Islam or have recently taken Shahada, we provide gentle guidance through the process – answering questions beforehand, helping coordinate a meaningful Shahada ceremony, and ensuring you have ongoing support as you begin practicing.
We believe everyone’s path to and within Islam is unique. There’s no timeline you need to follow, no level of knowledge you must achieve before you belong, and no question too simple to ask. Our role isn’t to judge your progress but to support you wherever you are in your journey.
We also understand that being Muslim in Minnesota brings its own particular challenges and opportunities. Our community includes people from many backgrounds who’ve navigated similar experiences and can offer practical wisdom alongside spiritual encouragement.
If this resonates with you, we’d love to meet you. You can start by joining one of our monthly gatherings – no commitment required, just come and see if it feels like a good fit. You can also reach out to our program coordinator for a private conversation about your specific questions or situation.
Our community meets at various MAS Minnesota locations, and we’re always happy to help you find the most convenient option for your schedule.
